Hike, Climb or Ride to the Top of Mountains and Explore Caves!

If coming from Yerevan, leave at 09:30 and arrive in Martuni at 11:00. The distance from Yerevan to Martuni is 130km and the roads are asphalted and renovated.  Accommodations for all travelers will be made in advance (Green Gables Guesthouse).

DAY 1

• 09:00 breakfast at the hotel (Yerevan)

• 09:30 leave for Martuni

• 11:00 arrive in Martuni and depart for Madina

• 11:30 arrival in the village of Madina (10km)

• Hike to the base of Mt. Armaghan (2829) from the village Madina (direct roads)

• Climb Mt. Armaghan (80mins by foot, or 20mins on horseback)

• Rest at the mountain top near the crater with the small lake (if requested, tents will be provided for camping that night)

• 14:00-15:00 national dishes will be served near the lake

• Return to the base of the mountain

• Rest and relax at homes in the village of Madina

• 19:00 supper in Madina

• Sightseeing in the village

• Spend night in Madina

 

 

DAY 2

• 09:00 breakfast in the family home

• 10:00 leave for the Vardenik caves by bus (10km) to explore/sightsee

• 11:30 depart on foot (5km) for Mt. Astghunk (3,470m), climbing Sari Surb (2km), and returning foot. National dishes will be served.

• 15:00 depart via bus to visit the area called Mtnadzor (15km)

• Hike to the fortress Mtnadzor, and explore the fortress complex

• Explore the ruins of the ancient temple

• 17:00 participate in the exhibition and tasting of traditional dishes made from Yayla dairy products (items available for purchase)

• 18:00 visit the Martuni Art Gallery (exhibition of local craftsmen's work with opportunity to purchase items)

• Visit Spartak Hayrapetyan, the only master in the world who works with lichens. Custom work available for purchase.

• 19:00 supper and departure
