Culinary Tour

Taste Delicious Armenian Foods!

If coming from Yerevan, leave at 09:30 and arrive in Martuni at 11:00. The distance from Yerevan to Martuni is 130km and the roads are asphalted and renovated.  Accommodations for all travelers will be made in advance (Green Gables Guesthouse).

DAY 1

  • 09:00 breakfast at the hotel (Yerevan)

  • 09:30 leave for Martuni

  • 11:00 arrive in Martuni and depart for Nerkin Getashen

  • 11:30 arrive in Nerqin Getashen

  • Sightseeing:  Kotavanq, Bagratunis’ residence, royal fishery, the ruins of the city Kot (9-10th century), and the nearest old mill.

  • 13:30 -14:30 tasting traditional Armenian dishes

  • Participating in collecting vegetables and in making dairy products

  • Participating in the preparation of national dishes with local vegetables and dairy products

  • 18:00 tasting national dishes (in a rural home)

  • Participating in the preparation of baking “lavash”

  • Sightseeing in the village, visiting the masters of handicraft, walking along the Argichi River

  • 20:00 Supper

  • Spend the night in the village

 

 

DAY 2

  • 09:00 breakfast

  • 10:00 departure to the village Tsovasar (15km, asphalted roads)

  • 13:00 exhibition of dairy products at the Tsovasar mill and tasting national dishes.

  • Walk around the territory called “Tsakkar’’ and see the natural bridge caused by centuries of water erosion.

  • 16:00 visit the Martuni Art gallery, where there are 170 paintings, drawings and sculptures by M. Saryan, F. Terlemezyan, G. Khanjyan, H. Hakobyan, D. Nalbandyan. See a unique cross stone that was found in the trunk of a tree that was recovered from the Karvachar territory.

  • Visit Spartak Hayrapetyan, the only master in the world who works with lichens. Custom works available for purchase.

  • 18:00 Supper

  • 19:00 depart for Yerevan or next destination
